Baby Mia..

okay i think this deserved its own post! so you guys get a special today! (and anyways my daughter decided she likes to take naps in her crib so I'm not checking every 10 min to see if shes close to the edge of the bed).
Okay so baby Mia is about 8 lbs and two months old! she still has baby poo which is pretty watery... we did spend a while just chit chatting about motherhood and whats new, wrk and the basic concerns every new mother has, and by no means do I know all the answers I can just state what has wrked for me and Samaya. We also chatted about the expo that we are going to its the New Momma Expo we are both sooo excited!! okay so I tried to explain about prefolds, flats, gflapper inserts. Also about the covers that I have which are swaddlebees, best bottoms, tuck and go, and a few from Sweet Lil Bumbums and BSRB- which are from a work at home mom who makes and sells them off hyena cart! some fit huge while others did work! Now I started to cloth Samaya when she was on solid foods already so I'm not sure how my inserts will work on newborn poop! But she has done alot of homework and research to find out what will be best for her! And I do believe she is ready to start!! I cant wait to visit her and help with anything else she needs me for! this is and All In One diaper, it is very big on baby Mia because its one size, this will probly fit alot better once she gets to 10-12 lbs and fit until 30lbs!

Oh FYI she is laying on a prefold size meduim i didnt put it on her because it was HUGE!! but Jassil did get to see how thick they are! they do come in premie and newborn size!

we had a introductory class at Little Gym in Brooklyn heights. I learned so much and didn't think i would be so excited about going back, but to my surprised I am! Samaya had a blast, she was laughing, touching and squealing in delight at everything! the instructor Kate was a delight to spend time with, she was very reassuring and kept things interesting and even when the Bugs (babies) woulnd pay attention she stood there to talk to us mothers! I will say that not one father was in the class, Kinda sad but hey someones got to wrk right?... well anyways I will be joining the rest of this summester class runs until June.15th then the Summer semester starts which we wont join because we might be travaling to VA to visit my sister and a few other places but i do want to join the fall classes! it runs a 21 week course and i think that would be great! its close to home and it will be a place to take Samaya who will be one by then to play and meet freinds when the weather outside isnt very kid friendly! It is however not the cheapest, but i do feel very strongly that this will help kids with lots of skills that being in a house and being the olny child wont teach you! Its better than sitting down and wactching TV!!! get out and be MOBLIE!!! It does wonders for the body and yes even children need it!! So I am all for it! now to thnk of a way to get more $$! haha!  -
well its a good thing we do cloth right? at least were saving in that department! So i would like to ask... what do u do to be a lil greener.. i actually got some very funny answers and oh my some i cant post but its nice to sit back and think to yourself and ask yourself how are you saving the earth? every little bit counts!

I've told myself i have to find time to blog.... but there are days that when nighttime falls 10pm i just wanna crawl in bed and hit the off button to it all! We've done alot in these past seven days! For earth day i didn't get to plant my little flower but i did enjoy an hour of sunshine on the stoop! Then my sisters came to new york to spend the week here! that's great because they have 6 kids between two sisters and my daughter loves to touch and see them play and squeals with delight, that makes my smile always! I spend EASTER with my brother in-laws family! WOW, what a great set of people! I feel at home there! Of course everyone one wants Samaya to eat regular food already but i was amazed that when i said she only eats baby food and breast milk they did try to feed her anyways (like my mother's side of the family) but then again look at my daughter she is 17 lbs and almost 8 months she isn't starving people! lol.
On Monday my sister (Yudy) my oldest calls and says she's coming over! MY house was a mess but I woke up early and cleaned up. We had a great day hanging out at home cooking and watching movies! WE saw the movie SALT, good movie but not a good ending... then I took some pictures of her kids! Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting baby Mia, my friends (Jassil) daughter! she is sooo cute and tiny! two months old and about 8lbs! We were talking about motherhood and cloth diapers! I have some pictures of Mia in cloth diap[pers but I will post then when Samaya and I get back from our Mommy and Baby date! Today we are going to check out LITTLE GYM in brooklyn heights! I hope I love it and it's not to expensive! I will also be taking my camera to take some pictures, that will be soon to follow! Its almost 7 am and it seeems as if today the weather will cooperate, well see if im correct! Good bye for now!... but I will be back, on thursday i will be going and see my dad his wife and her daughter which i haven't met she just arrived from Honduras, and I'm sure well go a few more places before the week is up with all my family being in town and stuff! TTYL..

Samaya @ 7 1/2 months

So today has been a fantastic day (at least weather wise..) we've been taking advantage of it! So far I've cooked two meals, and now am cooking dinner, showered and changed baby Samaya twice (she wants to feed herself now n days and oh boy is it messy!) and i also managed to shower my dog charlie and blow dry his lovely locks!!! i <3 that he allows me to do everything from plucking the hair outta his ears to trimming his nails! he got an all inclusive shower!!! ill post a pic! We also spend an hr outside on our steps! I <3 that i live in a brownstone and have stoops that we can chill at! And my wi-fi is super strong so I can def chill outside and still surf the net! It will be a great spring/summer! I also got news and confirmed some plans for Easter weekend! I'm so happy i have something to do, and that I will finally be taking my baby girl to meet my brother in-laws family! they are a great bunch of ppl that I also consider my own!! Hope to have a blast and I'll post pictures of our outfits and new people that we meet!

keeping stinky's away...

okay so I've been doing cloth for about roughly two months (pocket diapers comes a microfiber insert) I didn't know any better so I did use them and omg they stink like ammonia. I did trash those and haven't used that again (see last post) but i was starting to get scared thinking that my everyday (bamboo,flat) insert would get the Stinky's so i started to wash every morning. So every morning be4 breakfast i would wash the previous days worth of diapers (anywhere from 5/8inserts and maybe 2/3 covers) and include my night time diaper! It was working great but if you know me you KNOW I'm always HUNGRY... and i hate to do laundry in the middle of the day so its either morning or night... i was getting tired of washing in the am, be4 breakfast so two days ago after every dirty diaper i would rinse the insert, by hand in the bathroom sink BEFORE i drop it in my wet bag/pail, and i took a whiff tonight before going to bed (now i haven't washed diapers since Monday MORNING) and my wet bag/pail smells like PEE... I'm SO excited NO MORE SMELLY's!! I will be washing tomorrow but I'm so proud!! i will also sometime next week be getting bac-out to spray on poopy diapers after i rinse but before i drop in the wet bag/pail, (Bac-Out contains a unique blend of natural living enzyme cultures) hope it works and i can contiune to wash every 2 day! I've also been on what we (cloth diaper addict's) call ON THE WAGON, which means no diaper shoping for a month, but i did order some late last month that just arrived yesterday! Their called rumparoo's Cant wait to prep them and start using, hope i fall i love. I still have some vivalafluff on the way, its a custom OMG hope i love it, and next week some time i will be helping a friend to hopefully make the switch to cloth diapers!!! I started when my daughter was 5/6 months so its exciting to help her with her lil almost 2 month old baby girl *shout out to baby MIA*! hope my fluff fits and we get a good thing going.
Well earth day is April, 22nd, What r u doing to save the earth? I might plant a flower (no room for a tree) in front where I live! If I do ill post picture! goodnight for now! oh fyi, did i post that my baby girl is now sleeping in her PNP... *tear* we dont co-sleep anymore but im to much of a baby to actually move her to her own room and crib... just cant do it.. she's my baby girl..on that note goodnight because baby Samaya still wakes up at 4am to nurse...

Update...

okay so I know its been a while... I've been pretty busy, and had some rough times... 1st I started to use some pocket diapers called SUNBABY,  I heard lots of reviews from babycenter, and I thought I would try them. I ordered 3 for 18 bucks pretty cheap! they come with microfiber inserts (which absorb a lot but have been know to have compression leaks) well after using these inserts doubled up with hemp for night they started to smell like ammonia... I was pissed beyond words. So mf holds or retains more of the urine/soap, and because i started to use my wonder washer i was using less water.
Anyways i took the mf that i had used and trashed it, and boiled my gflappers and flats (i was able to boil these bc they are natural fibers) i made sure that there was no soap on them then i washed in the wonder washer like 3 at a time with no soap just plain water washes! it worked no more smelly ammonia, i also think that i started to get lazy with washing and was washing every 3 days (doing bigger loads, so my diapers weren't getting the proper rinsing necessary to get clean!) now I'm washing every morning, yes at times it a hassle but I'm making sure all my diapers are clean i only have to wash 6/8 diapers (inside parts) and maybe one cover if it gets pooped if not i wash all covers every 2 weeks! Its working great and my wash time is like 30 mins start to finish! we did fight off the amonina... and will not be using microfiber again, its better to stick to natural fibers for me and my baby! i am however looking into making my own diapers ... maybe.. i dont even know how to wrk a sewing machine but im sure i can learn!! <3 <3 more to come soon

now on to my baby.... she growing so fast, she sits up already on her own its so cute! last night she slept in her own bed! she did however wake up to eat at 4am but im okay with it as long as she goes back to bed! i woke up scared because my baby wasnt in bed with me then i look over and shes fast alseep! yay! soo proud!!! She is also eating like a champ! 3 meals aday some days are way better than other but she does eat food and im exvited! she likes to feed herself which its great, doesnt fuss too much! I, We have been truly blessed! we also went to the aquarium last week and did a meet up with some other mothers from baby center! it was great we all had a good time! i love to take picures of my hubby babywearing!

wonder wash...

Okay so i found a washer for ppl who camp (no eletricity needed or anything woo-hoo). Its called Wonder Wash, and i've been using it to wash my diapers, it cuts my time 2 hr wash time to 30 min! woo-hoo i love it! I've also used it to wash all Samaya's clothing! its been going strong for 1 week! im excited! Samaya has an ear infection and received her six month shots. Shes doing so great, no crying and very little fussing! It breaks my heart to see my very happy child sad and with a little discomfort, I now know what its like to want someone else pain to be yours! Well time to do another laundry before bed!
